Is Now A Good Time To File Bankruptcy?

In these uncertain times with the Covid-19 pandemic, you might be wondering if now is a good time to file a bankruptcy.  First of all, you should take care of your family and yourself. Orlando Florida Bankruptcy Attorney Lewis Roberts explains…

Yes, it may be a good time to file for bankruptcy, or in the near future.  If you are out work, it may be easier to qualify for bankruptcy now when previously you might have had too much income to qualify for a chapter 7.

The government is sending our stimulus checks.  If your household income was under $150,000 for 2019, you should receive about $1200 for you and any spouse, then $500 per child.

This money is not exempt from a bankruptcy trustee.  It either needs to be exempted from other Florida personal property exemptions or spent on necessities prior to filing.

It is important to reach out to me to discuss the proper timing for a bankruptcy filing during these rough and uncertain times.

Most importantly, stay safe and healthy.
